Why Scholarships

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn't.

Every cohort, we meet brilliant young Nigerians who could absolutely thrive in tech — if only they could afford the fees. Some are NYSC corpers stretching their ₦33,000/month allowance. Some are first-generation university graduates supporting siblings. Some are working full-time at jobs they hate, just to feed their families.

The Codar Scholarship exists for them. Since 2022, we've awarded over ₦70 million in scholarships — completely free or heavily subsidised tech education for those who need it most. Our scholars now work at GTBank, MTN, Flutterwave, Andela, Microsoft, and dozens of global firms.

Common scholarship questions

Yes — for full Need-Based scholars. You pay zero Naira for the programme. Some tracks (Merit, Women in Tech) cover 50–75% — you'd cover the rest, often through instalments.

No. Codar scholarships are gifts — not loans. We only ask that, when you can, you pay it forward by mentoring future scholars or referring others to apply.

No need to apply separately — one application is reviewed against all tracks. You'll automatically get the most generous one you qualify for.

You can re-apply for any future cohort. We also notify rejected applicants of free Codar workshops, free YouTube content, and our Pay-Later option (study now, pay 6 months after graduation if you land a job).

We review applications monthly. The next cycle deadline is 30th June 2026. Applications received after that date are reviewed in the next cycle.
